Why this system exists
01
Deep profiles, mechanically jointed corners and grained or painted finishes that sit correctly on a cottage, farmhouse or village elevation.
02
The same system, bead and colour as your Residence windows, so a garden door does not announce itself as an afterthought.
03
Fully glazed and part-glazed configurations, with solid bottom panels where a working door needs them.
04
Dedicated open-in and open-out flush door sashes mean the configuration follows the room, not the system.
05
No painting, no swelling, no seasonal easing — the appearance of timber without the timber calendar.
06
Multipoint locking and modern weather seals, with specification confirmed against the chosen system at quotation.
This page covers glazed, framed Residence single doors — rear garden doors, cottage side doors, utility doors, extension doors, home office and garden room doors, glazed kitchen doors and secondary entrances.
Looking for a solid front door? Residence also produces a dedicated flush entrance door collection with panelled and solid leaf designs. The two are different products with different purposes, and we will steer you to the right one rather than glaze a front door for the sake of it.
The same design-family principle applies as on the French doors. Choose R9, R7 or R² for the windows and the single door, French doors and sidelights can all follow it, giving one coherent design across the property.
Residence 9 suits character, period and heritage-inspired homes. Residence 7 is flush inside and out with cleaner proportions. Residence² brings square architectural detailing for design-led properties.
A single door earns its place where a pair would be excessive: a utility entrance off a yard, a side door onto a gravel path, a garden room door, a glazed kitchen door onto a terrace, or the everyday secondary entrance a family actually uses.
On farmhouses and cottages across Penrith, Appleby, Kendal and the South Lakes this is frequently the door that takes the most punishment, which is precisely why a low-maintenance timber alternative is worth specifying properly.
Heritage painted finishes and woodgrains cover the palette most Cumbrian properties need, including Clotted Cream, Chalk White, No.38 Grey, Painswick, Cotswold Green, No.10 Black and oak woodgrains. Availability is confirmed against the final Residence specification for the product chosen.
Monkey tail, pear drop and knurled handles suit traditional elevations, with complementary hinges and finishes. Hardware compatibility varies by configuration and is confirmed at survey.

Considered detailing is what separates a fitted window from a finished one.
