Not automatically. Straightforward like-for-like replacement often remains permitted development, but the designation raises the weight given to landscape character where permission is required for other reasons — an extension, for example. Can I fit large aluminium sliding doors on a Silverdale cottage?

Often yes, on a rear or garden elevation away from the public frontage, where the front of the cottage retains a more traditional appearance. It depends on the individual building and its planning status.

Are properties in Arnside and Silverdale usually listed?
