A single, modest-sized fixed or single-opening aluminium window sits toward the lower end of that range. A large, multi-light casement with several opening sections, upgraded hardware and a non-standard colour sits toward the top, and bespoke or oversized units can exceed it.

Aluminium frames use narrower sightlines and a thermally broken core to achieve their slim profile, which requires more sophisticated engineering than a uPVC frame. The hardware specified with aluminium systems, from multi-point locking to handle finishes, also tends to be a higher tier. The result is a window that generally lasts longer and looks sharper, at a higher starting price than timber-look uPVC, which typically runs £950–£1,700 per window.

For a typical house with ten to fifteen windows, an all-aluminium specification at these guide prices puts a realistic budget somewhere between £14,000 and £39,000 before any structural work, though most homes with a mix of sizes and standard specification land closer to the middle of that span. Mixing aluminium on principal or street-facing elevations with timber-look uPVC elsewhere is a common way to manage budget without compromising the front of the house.
